Yucatan´s Historic Haciendas Including a Mayan Cooking Experience

We will pick you up from your hotel in Merida to visit the ancient Hacienda Yaxcopoil, an old henequen hacienda that has been restored as a museum showing its original charm.>/p>

You will walk through its green courtyard to enter the main house and chapel, places where you will learn about the rich past of this wealthy henequen hacienda.

Continue to the emblematic Hacienda Uxmal, one of the oldest haciendas in Yucatan, once one of the most productive sugarcane, cotton and corn plantations of the region. Nowadays you can still see some of this old hacienda dating back to 1673.

Travel back in time to colonial days; he hallways of the current Hacienda Uxmal narrates the region’s history. Before you return to Merida, be a Maya chef and participate in making your own tortillas and cooking other traditional Mayan delicacies in a Mayan cooking demonstration with traditional recipes.
